Environmental law enforcement training workshop

Experts involved in local, state and federal efforts to fight environmental crimes will share their knowledge with law enforcement, public officials, community leaders and public defenders at a free workshop sponsored by Keep Ohio Beautiful (KOB), a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. The workshop will take place in Port Clinton on May 3.

Walleye 5K Run/Walk to be held May 26

The 2013 Walleye Run/Walk will be held on May 26 in Port Clinton. The Run/Walk begins at 10 a.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Pier. Awards and prizes will be given at the Walleye Festival Tent.

OCIC recognizes business leaders

Each year, the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation recognizes outstanding companies and individuals that have demonstrated success in business and have contributed to the growth and vitality of Ottawa County.

Awards are given in categories for small business (1 to 25 employees), medium business (26 to 100 employees) and large business (101 plus employees), business of the year, Bill Mack business leader, economic development partner, personal achievement, entrepreneur of the year, and volunteer of the year. A committee of OCIC Trustees reviewed and determined the award winners, who were honored in ceremonies on Wednesday at Camp Perry.

Welcome Doors are appearing around Ottawa County

The Welcome Doors are beginning to appear around Ottawa County. The Doors, a project of the 2013 Leadership Ottawa County (LOC) class, modeled on the urban fairies project of Ann Arbor, MI, is designed to encourage travel and exploration throughout our region and encourage children of all ages to discover new points of interest and businesses in Ottawa County.
