Stuffed animal sleepover

What happens at the library at night? Your stuffed animal will find out for you. Come to Ida Rupp Public Library for a bedtime story with your animal and tuck them in to spend the night. Come back on Saturday morning to see what fun your furry friends had while you were sleeping. 
Bedtime story and drop off is at 5 p.m. Friday, June 22. Pick up your animal and pictures by 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23.

Kids head to summer camp on Kelleys Island

Did you realize you can go to camp on an island? You can! Each summer, youth from across the state travel to this camp which is located on Kelleys Island. Did you realize youth do NOT need to be 4-H members to attend 4-H camp? It’s true!
Organized camping is more than mosquito bites and soggy tennis shoes. Camp is an important “learning laboratory” where children develop life skills, such as responsibility, decision making, getting along with others, cooperation, leadership and increased self-esteem.

Otterbein honors those who give back

Otterbein Homes President and CEO, Jill Hreben, along with Otterbein North Shore Executive Tom Keith, recently bestowed special recognition to individuals and companies who have gone above and beyond to support the mission of the retirement community.
Port Clinton resident, Kim Jones, was named Employee of the Year for her “efficiency, honesty, patience, dependibility and general good humor.” As business office manager, Jones is responsible for maintaining daily office operations and managing Human Resources.
Lakeside resident Joyce Edwards was named Community Volunteer of the Year, for her “years of lovingly and faithfully” escorting ladies from Assisted Living to the beauty shop every Wednesday morning.
For the second year, Beth Infield was honored as Resident Volunteer of the Year for her enthusiastic work throughout the community. It’s not unusual to see Infield passing out mail or in the dining room with a colorful apron on assisting the dietary staff.

Farmers’ Market seeking entertainment and non-profits

The Oak Harbor Downtown Committee, in conjunction with the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, will be holding Downtown Oak Harbor Farmers Markets again this season at Flat Iron Park. The markets will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month starting in June, and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organizers are currently looking for entertainment acts and additional events and would like to give the opportunity to non-profit groups to host a fundraiser during the markets. There is currently a 5K/10K run benefitting the Camp Sabroske Youth Fund at the June 23 market and The Humane Society Dog Wash at the July 28 market. If your group would like to do a fundraiser during one of the remaining markets, or you have an entertainment act that you would like to perform, call the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce at 419-898-0479 for information.
