From Wall Street to Main Street at Ida Rupp

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Ida Rupp Public Library will be hosting a free workshop titled “From Wall Street to Main Street: Myths, Miscues and Investment Fundamentals”, presented by Allison Falls, CFA, on Tuesday, April 23 at the library.  

In this educational and informal discussion Falls will demystify the financial pundits and in plain language highlight investment fundamentals such as asset allocation, diversification, risk and return and volatility. Falls is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the CFA Institute.

PC Chamber hosts Ohio Chamber Symposium

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Ohio Chamber Symposium on Thursday, April 25. Todd Sarver with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Attorneys at Law will be presenting “Social Media:  The Brave New Workplace”.

The legal impact of social media in the workplace will be reviewed including:

•hiring process

•monitoring employees

•employee (mis)conduct and termination  

•an interactive discussion about protected employee activities on-line

•review best practices and policy considerations for employer

The Ohio Chamber Symposium is free to PC Chamber members.  Lunch will be provided. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., and the workship will be from 12 -1 p.m. at The Civilian Marksmanship Program at Camp Perry Training Site, Building 3.

Reach Out food give-away in Port Clinton

Rebirth Community Church will be giving away food to the community in their ReachOut program during the months of April, June, August, October and December. The first giveaway will be April 20, then will be the first Saturday of each month.

Marblehead Bank Daisy 5K Run/Walk

The Marblehead Bank’s 9th Annual 5K Daisy Run/Walk will be held Saturday, May 11. The out and back course passes the Lakeside Daisy Preserve. This year all proceeds from the race will be divided between The Newtown Community Fund and The Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. 

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. at the Marblehead V.F.W. Post 7572, 421 W. Main St., Marblehead.
