Gratitude at Otterbein

Joe Cowan, residents Gordon Wahlers, Marie Bowman, Don Yaussy, Bea Walker, Joyce Edwards, Tom Walker and Gordon’s son David Wahlers prepare for the first cruise on the new golf cart at Otterbein North Shore.

Otterbein North Shore was the grateful recipient of a donation from resident Gordon Wahlers to purchase a new golf cart to be used exclusively for activities.  The sunset orange Yamaha golf cart arrived in bright fashion as a group of residents and board members awaited to take the first cruise around the Otterbein campus.  Wahlers was pleased with the golf cart and said he was “happy to be able to do it.”

For many years Wahlers owned and operated Wahlers Fruit Farm producing and selling peaches and apples.  And, at more than 90 years old, he still spends time on the farm working to make sure the property is immaculate.

Otterbein North Shore is a Continuum Care Retirement Community offering independent and assisted living, as well as short-term rehabilitation in the Jane Baker House.  For more information call Jo Ann Franks or Kirsten Trammel at 419-798-8250.  Additional information regarding Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices is available on its web site at
