Memory screening July 25

Senior Helpers and Otterbein are co-sponsoring a monthly memory screening day from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Otterbein North Shore, 9400 E. North Shore Blvd., Marblehead.

VIP Club plans day trips

Magruder Hospital’s VIP Club is planning two one-day trips for 2012.
On Wednesday, Aug. 8, there will be a day-trip to a Cleveland Indians baseball game. Cost for the trip is $66 and includes roundtrip deluxe DVD motorcoach transportation and tickets to the game with seats in the lower right field area.  The trip will depart at 9:30 a.m. from the City/County Complex at 1868 E. Perry St. in Port Clinton and will return around 5 p.m.
On Thursday, Sept. 27, there will be a one-day trip to the Hartville Flea Market, a 100,000-square-foot facility which houses 175 indoor shops, up to 800 outdoor seasonal vendors and 200 pavilion vendors. Cost for the trip is $56 and includes roundtrip deluxe DVD motorcoach transportation, lunch at Hartville Kitchen and all applicable taxes and gratuity. The trip will depart at 6:30 a.m. from the City/County Complex at 1868 E. Perry St. in Port Clinton and will return around 7:30 p.m.

County honors 2012 Senior Hall of Fame recipients

The 2012 Ottawa County Senior Hall of Fame Awards were presented to the awardees during the annual Senior Day celebration at Camp Perry on Wednesday, May 9. Recipients received a plaque commemorating their service to the seniors of Ottawa County. The recipients for this year’s award include: Shirley Pryor representing the Danbury Senior Center; Barbara Magsig, representing the Elmore Golden Oldies Senior Center; Bernice Runner, representing the Genoa Senior Center; June Kwaitkowski, representing Port Clinton Senior Center; and Anne Parker, representing the Put-in-Bay Senior Center. This year, two seniors who were very active in the Harbor Lights Senior Center in Oak Harbor were also honored.

PC Seniors plan Victorian Tea

Port Clinton Seniors will host the annual “Open House and Victorian Tea” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Port Clinton Senior Center, 320 E. Third St., Port Clinton. Guests will be able to sample Victorian-style teas, dainty sandwiches and pastries during their visit, as well as learn more about the Senior Center's offerings and activities. The event is open to all seniors, their families and friends.
