Lake Erie Shores & Islands recognized for marketing efforts

Lake Erie Shores & Islands®, the destination marketing organization for travel and tourism in Erie and Ottawa counties, was recently awarded for their advertising and marketing campaigns. 


Two RUBY Awards were presented to the organization’s leaders at the recent Ohio Conference on Tourism held Oct. 10-12 in Dublin. Four MIDDY Awards were presented at the Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus’ Annual Awards of Excellence, held Sept.20 in Marietta.

The annual RUBY Awards competition is the Ohio Travel Association’s way of honoring those who have found the most innovative and creative ways to market their destination, attraction or services. RUBY stands for Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance.

Lake Erie Shores & Islands was awarded a first place RUBY Award for its new Attraction Map and a Citation of Excellence (Ruby runner-up) for its 2012 fall, winter, and summer radio campaign.

The MIDDY Awards are presented by the Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus and its name reflects our region of the country. Recipients are recognized for excellence in objective, results, creativity and originality.

Lake Erie Shores & Islands was awarded a first place MIDDY Award for its radio campaign and second place awards for its Attraction Map (brochure), Ice Machine wraps (outdoor advertising), and AAA Great Vacations Expo booth (brand experience implementation.)
The awards were accepted by Lake Erie Shores & Islands East Executive Director Joan Van Offeren and Lake Erie Shores & Islands West Executive Director, Larry Fletcher.
