On Friday, Feb. 17, Michelle Ish, of The HR Department (an independent HR consulting firm) will be presenting the Oak Harbor Chamber’s first free seminar of the year. It will run from noon to 1 p.m. and will be held at the Ottawa County Resource Center, at 8043 W. Ohio 163 in Oak Harbor. This seminar is free to Oak Harbor chamber members and includes lunch. Non-members can attend at a cost of just $10 per person.
The topic of discussion will be BWC supervisor training.
“I’ve found over the course of my career in Safety and Workers’ Compensation that those companies experiencing high premiums don’t necessarily suffer from poor safety programs or especially unsafe workplaces, or have careless employees. Often times, the problem is in the claims management,” Ish said. “Too often, critical decisions are left to be made by front line supervisors who admit to already being spread too thin, without the added task of managing workplace injuries.
“The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate to each of you, the leaders responsible for managing the workers’ comp for your organization, where these untrained, over-worked supervisors go wrong and begin to identify what tools and knowledge they need to make better decisions so that YOU can see better financial performance over the next five years.”
