Beacon Names New Editor Featured

Jasmine Cupp, a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, has been named the Editor of The Beacon, effective December 1, 2013. She is a lifelong resident of Ottawa County.

Jasmine has worked as an intern at The Beacon since May of 2013, handling a number of critical editorial duties, including helping out with the management of The Beacon’s website, She has also been instrumental in helping to prepare the way editorially for the newest member of the Schaffner Publications, Inc. family, the North Coast Parent News. 

Jasmine attended Kent State University and Owens Community College graduating in July of 2013. She received an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Communication Studies. She has also worked in the community at Great Scot and Community Market, spending 5 years in their management program. She managed to keep a full time job at Community Market while attending school full time also for the last three years. She is the daughter of Jack and Julie Cupp.

Donna Lueke, The Beacon’s editor for the last year and a half, will continue with the newspaper as Editor at Large. She will be helping out with the editing of reader submitted news stories and will also be doing some freelance writing for all of the Schaffner Publications, Inc. newspapers.
