The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Thirsty Pirate Taphouse and Grille at 2940 E. Harbor Road (corner of Ohio 163 and 53). A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 16. Light refreshments will be served.
“Since our opening on July 23, response from the Port Clinton and surrounding communities has been overwhelming,” said Mike Sjostrom, owner of The Thirsty Pirate Taphouse and Grille. “We are excited to be part of the community and to be able to provide a place people can enjoy freshly prepared meals and a cool, refreshing craft beer. We have been blessed with more and more patrons each day. It’s been fun and challenging at the same time. Every day we learn more about what our guests want and how we can better accommodate them.”
The Thirsty Pirate concept is casual dining in a fun atmosphere. With 32 beers on tap, there is a wide range of variety, from light-bodied lagers to full-bodied porters, any beer lover is sure to find a beer to please their palate.
“We plan to have the craft beers change on a regular basis,” said Sjostrom. “The comments so far from our guests have been great. People are loving the selections and the ability to sample beers they are curious about.”
The food selections include appetizers, sandwiches and full course entrees.
“The menu is varied to include something for everyone’s taste and price range. Some of the more popular items have been fried perch, fish tacos, pulled pork and macaroni and cheese. We plan to evolve the menu to expand on our guest’s preferences and suggestions,” the owner said.
The future plans for The Thirsty Pirate include offering private banquet facilities on-site, live entertainment on the weekends, beer pairing dinners, a possible New Year’s Eve Bash and providing year-round service.
“There is so much potential here. We have lots of ideas and big plans for the future,” Sjostrom said. “Right now, our main focus is on continued staff training and streamlining the operation to create the best experience for our guests. Our team has been working hard and non-stop since we hit the ground running when we opened mid-season. I am pleased with how everything is coming together. It’s a work in progress.”
The Thirsty Pirate is planning a grand opening party after the season winds down, most likely in the fall.
