Ribbon Cutting for JT’s Catawba Cafe

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce announces the grand opening of JT’s Catawba Café located at 1871 NE Catawba Road in the Midway Marina Plaza.  The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be served.

JT’S Catawba Café was the idea of “three sisters sharing childhood memories and grown-up dreams.” Sisters Jacquie (Couture) Below, Tonya Couture-Grubb and Tina (Couture) Schank opened JT’S Catawba Café on April 26.  JT’S Catawba Café has brought back a hometown favorite, the original “Mayhew’s Donut”, in addition to such popular items as JT’S Omelet, the Whopping Walleye Sandwich, and fluffy melt-in-your-mouth pancakes.

JT’S Catawba Café will continue with a Saturday Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Saturday Celebration will include a Donut Eating Contest at noon (register by 11:30 a.m,) a Creamer Stacking Contest, and raffles for gift certificates and t-shirts, in addition to other activities, including entertainment by JT’S “Donut Boy”.

Stein Hospice named as 2013 Hospice Honors recipient

Stein Hospice has been named a 2013 Hospice Honors recipient, a prestigious award recognizing hospice agencies providing the best patient care as rated by the patient’s caregiver.

Established by Deyta, this annual honor recognizes the top 100 agencies that continuously provide the highest level of satisfaction through their care as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. Deyta used the Family Evaluation of Hospice Care (FEHC) survey results from over 1,200 partnering hospice agencies contained in its national, FEHC database with an evaluation period of January through December 2012. Deyta used the five key drivers of caregiver satisfaction as the basis of the Hospice Honors calculations.

Ag Credit Stockholders elect Elmore farmer to Board of Directors

Ag Credit, Agricultural Credit Association, (Ag Credit), stockholders elected four farmers to three-year terms on the organization’s board of directors effective May 1, 2013: Charles Bostdorff, Bowling Green; Jerry Layman, Kenton; Deborah Johlin-Bach, Elmore; and Lauren Kamm, New London.  Their terms end April 30, 2016. All four were incumbent members of the board.


Deborah Johlin-Bach and her husband farm 1,200 acres, rotating corn, soybeans, wheat and/or spelt. Additionally, they feed out steers for market. Mrs. Johlin-Bach was elected to the Board in 2007, representing eastern Lucas, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties.
