Biggest Bike Week ever

This year’s Bike Week in Sandusky and surrounding communities was the biggest ever, with over 150,000 attending the various events.

“It’s becoming a destination,” said long-time participant Connie Roberts of Huron.”We saw bikes from all over, from as far away as Wisconsin and Florida. And there are plans to make it even bigger this year.”

Ohio Bike Week concludes on the North Coast

Ohio Bike Week started as the North Coast Rally and Ohio State H.O.G. of 1999 and 2000. Local interest grew and in 2001 the rally continued as the North Coast Thunder Rally. In 2006 it was renamed Ohio Bike Week and the rally was combined with racing and entertainment. The rally was created to open up Northern Ohio as a diverse tourist destination.

First ArtWalk damp but enthusiastic

Perhaps it was the good nature and camaraderie of the artists. Perhaps it was the excitement of a “first”. Perhaps it was the richness of the artistic offerings. Perhaps it was the glow from the delicious refreshments. Whatever the reason or reasons, the nasty cold and rain and resulting sparse public attendance Thursday evening did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the artists at downtown Port Clinton’s First Annual ArtWalk.

Marty Willis of Just a Basket Case, who was one of those most impacted by the weather as she was exhibiting her baskets and notecards under the canopy in front of 2nd Street Gallery, was philosophical about the weather and lack of traffic, saying, “I am only giving up time.”
