Terra State's Music On Sunday series presents HIGH FREQUENCY Flute Quartet

As part of its Music on Sunday series, Terra State Community College's next concert features HIGH FREQUENCY Flute Quartet on March 24.

HIGH FREQUENCY is a highly talented ensemble comprised of members of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra. Jesse Martin, principal oboe; Tamara Kagy, principal flute; Elizabeth Studer, flute; and Jody Chaffee, principal piccolo, have been performing together in various capacities for many years.  They are also charter members of the Ohio Regional Flute Alliance (NORFA), a Terra State flute choir that is open to all flutists in the area.

HIGH FREQUENCY was created by Kagy as a way to play with friends and explore the standard and virtuoso flute repertoire that is so rich in giving voice to the flute.  The members of the quartet own and perform on all the voices of the flute (piccolo, C flute, alto, Eb flute, and bass) giving the ensemble a rich texture and multifaceted color.

The music that HIGH FREQUENCY will perform for this concert will range from classic to contemporary, with samples of opera, dance and world music. Whether a flute player or not, all will delight in the beautiful Bozza, the drama of Bizet and Mozart operas, and the wonder of the wind in the tempestuous Wyndsong, featuring veil dancers and an accompanying didgeridoo.

The concert begins at 4 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Terra State. Admission is free. For more information call Terra State’s ticket office at 419-559-2379.
