Sandusky Walk to End Alzheimer’s at OVH

The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, and the Sandusky Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee are inviting area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Ohio Veterans Home. Registration and check-in will begin at the Pavilion at 9:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10:30 a.m. Erie County commissioner Pat Shenigo is serving as the Honorary Chair of this event.

Great Wolf Lodge is taking part in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™

Area residents are invited to join guests staying at the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky on June 18 to take part in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim.

As an official host location for the fourth year in a row, all Great Wolf Lodge resorts are simultaneously joining hundreds of other aquatics facilities in this unique, annual event. Last year more than 24,870 people worldwide took part. This year participating Great Wolf Lodge guests will the help break the current Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson ever conducted.

Families interested in taking part in the Swimming Lesson and enjoying a fun-filled morning must RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by June 14.  Interested participants must provide the number of people in the family and ages of children. Limited number of spaces available. This event is free and will take place in the resort’s outdoor pool from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on June 18.

Riding the Gatekeeper, Cedar Point's new coaster

At Cedar Point’s Media Day on Thursday, while waiting to take my first ride on The Gatekeeper, Cedar Point’s newest attraction, I felt the anticipation and excitement building. That anticipation was prolonged as we were told a rider needed to get on before us. That rider was Matt Ouimet, President and CEO of Cedar Point. My companion joked to Ouimet that he was prolonging her nervousness. He assured her she would love the ride and that it is one of the smoothest rides he has ever been on.
