The eighteenth annual "A Day for Me" program, a free women's health seminar, is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, from Noon to 4 p.m., at Magruder Hospital’s Conference Center. Registration for the event begins at noon in the hospital main lobby. Magruder Hospital, the Magruder Hospital Auxiliary and Business and Professional Women’s Club are sponsoring this year's seminar. The theme for this year’s seminar is, “A Work in Progress.”
The keynote speaker for the event is Leif Hokanson Smith, Psy.D., Founder & President of Personal Best Consulting near Columbus Ohio. The title of his talk will be “Approaching Significance: Discovering Meaning and Compassion in Today’s Hectic World” where he will explain the phenomenon of “settling” for second best, and teach methods for improved self-efficacy and passion in all areas of life. Dr. Smith has worked with athletes, coaches, business leaders and also maintains a busy private practice in Dublin, Ohio. He currently holds the position of Adjunct Graduate Faculty at The University of Dayton. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), and his work has been cited in publications such as The New York Times, Entrepreneur Magazine, Pure Power Magazine, HER Sports Magazine, Best Practices in HR, Legal Management, The Columbus Dispatch and Small Business Digest. In his free time, Dr. Smith enjoys pursuing martial arts, including Aikido and Muay Thai, and enjoys traveling and spending time with his two young boys.
The agenda for the day will begin with lunch, compliments of the Fulton Street Café, with a brief welcome. Participants will then be given the opportunity to sit in on three educational break-out sessions and then reconvene for the keynote speaker. The break-out presenters for this year will be Registered Pharmacist Lisa Ramirez, Magruder’s VP of Nursing Kathy Durflinger, and Massotherapist/Relfexologist/Certified Polarity Practitioner Amanda Conn.
