Turn in unused, unwanted meds Saturday 


The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, along with local fire departments, law enforcement agencies and the OSS Solid Waste District, are collaborating to provide proper medication disposal to the residents of Ottawa County. A one-day collection for unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs will be held at multiple locations on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Ottawa County residents are encouraged to drop off medications at any of the following collection sites:
• Village of Genoa Police Department — 102 E. Sixth St., Genoa

Stein Hospice sponsors Caregiver Day May 9

Are you caring for a loved one and looking for answers? Or could you use a couple hours just to relax? If so, plan to attend our Caregiver Day on Wednesday, May 9, at the Ernsthausen Community Complex, 100 Republic St., Norwalk.  
The event will include informational displays from several community agencies, a meditative labyrinth, chair massages, refreshments, door prizes and more. Stop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.  The event is free and open to all.

Women’s wellness event this weekend

A Women's Wellness Weekend and Day Spa is coming up at Commodore Resort Inn, Port Clinton, to assist women in finding a healthier lifestyle.
Join in for an overnight stay on Saturday, April 21, and enjoy lunch and dinner, as well as breakfast on Sunday morning for $165.
The weekend starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and ends approx 2 p.m. on Sunday and includes exercise programs, Zumba, water exercise, Tai Chi, Yoga and morning stretch/pilates, a health lecture on achieving your goals and Saturday night PJ party and wine.

Babysitter training offered in Genoa

The American Red Cross will be offering Babysitter Training at the Genoa Middle School Library from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 16. Students must attend both sessions to receive a certificate. Leslie Vogelpohl is the instructor.
Training fees are $85. Thanks to the generosity of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, there are a limited number of full scholarships available for this training. Students should be 11-13 years old. Space is limited to 15 students.

Health screening coming up in Port Clinton

Area residents are invited to participate in a Complete Metabolic Profile Screening from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the office of Jessica Crow, DO, family practice physician, 3960 Harbor Light Landing, Port Clinton.
Screenings include:
• Complete Blood Count with Metabolic and Lipid Panel (no eating or drinking for 12 hours — water allowed — includes liver and kidney function studies, fasting blood sugar, thyroid, cholesterol, HDL/LDL and triglyceride levels along with a complete blood count.) — $45
• Hemoglobin A1C — $25
• PSA — $30
