Art Council’s Water’s Edge Concert

The North Coast Concert Band will be playing a free concert on Sunday, June 23, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Erie Dearie/Waterworks Park on Perry Street in Port Clinton. The performance is presented by The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council.


Something New for the Magruder Hospital Diabetic Support Group

For the July 11th Diabetic Support Group, Magruder Hospital Dietitian Kathy Buckingham will lead a Supermarket Tour at Kroger in Port Clinton from 9-10 a.m. This is open to anyone with diabetes, as well as family, friends and caregivers, to be able to see first-hand what to look for and what to keep in mind when grocery shopping.


Open Tennis at PCHS

There will be open play at the Port Clinton High School tennis courts for all ages and skill levels every Wednesday during the summer from 6:30 -8:30 p.m.


First Relay for Life Golf Outing scheduled

The first annual Relay For Life of Ottawa County Golf Outing will be held Saturday, July 6, at the Oak Harbor Golf Club. A $240 entry fee per team of four includes a golf cart, lunch, drink tickets and prizes. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.


Rise of the Mayfly

This past week I watched as the clouds of Mayflies rose from the bottom of Lake Erie to the surface of the water on my boat’s sonar. On Sunday morning they were in the 10 foot range of the water column, and by Monday night they were covering the sides of shoreline homes and boats sitting in the marinas in a thick blanket of wings and curved up tails.

Art Walk encourages Dancing with Mayflies

Dust off your wings and shine up your tap shoes, because the theme of the Thursday, June 27, Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. in Historic Downtown Port Clinton is Dance of the Mayflies.  Dance teachers Carol Clemons and Toni Garrett will give attendees the opportunity to experience some creative dance interpretive movements with a few mayfly touches.  Dancing will commence at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. at Veteran’s Park, Monroe and East 2nd Streets.  Visitors are welcomed at any one of these times to dance for about 30 minutes.

Walleye Tournament delayed

Today’s first day of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour was postponed due to a small craft advisory. The two day tournament will run Saturday and Sunday. Soft winds are predicted for both days, says Captain Juls.
