Ward 2 Councilman's view on Issue 6

I am writing this letter to express my concerns about the upcoming election. Issue 6 has become quit controversial and I would like to ask the citizens to vote no. As written issue 6 inhibits council’s ability to do our job. We need to move forward with development to help improve our economic situation.

The City’s intention has been to use the Waterworks park area for more than just recreation since it was filled in during the early 1900’s.  In 2006 and 2007 Waterworks Park was a controversial topic as well, and eventually the rezoning was approved in a general election.

We, City Council, were voted in to represent the best interest of all of the citizens of Port Clinton.  We are always willing to listen and consider what our constituents want, so please feel free to contact any or all of our city council members and let us know what you want, now and in the future.

Thank you,

Jerry Tarolli
Port Clinton Council Ward 2

Ralph Canter's unique metal creations featured at Desdemona's

Desdemona's Art Gallery in Marblehead is featuring exciting new work by local metal sculptor Ralph Canter.  In the summer of 2013 the skilled welder, who has 30 years experience in a manufacturing facility, decided to merge his trade skills with his creative talents.

"I envisioned metal creations that were unique and hand-crafted," said Canter. "I live near the shores of Lake Erie so it was a natural fit for me to begin by fashioning the popular native fish and waterfowl."

Yes on Issue 6

I’ve been paying attention to the debate about the development of our waterfront and whether the citizens of Port Clinton should be allowed to vote on the sale of our public lands, such as Waterworks Park. In my estimation, the primary issue is not whether I want development or to have a beautiful park. The primary issue of concern to me is that we do not sell or lease (leasing for 100 years is essentially selling, in my view) our public lands without the consent of the people.

That’s why I think it is important to vote yes on Issue 6.
