In reading Bob Walls’ letter to the editor recently he stated, “If you love Port Clinton then you will love CORD”. Be informed that I love Port Clinton dearly, but I, Mr. Walls, do not love CORD. This committee does not understand what progress means; jobs, a solid tax base, growth and future dreams. As I stated in a previous Sandusky Register article, “three strikes and you’re out”. You already turned down beautification of the waterfront/waterworks park by the Jet Express and they moved… where were you then? They were trying to do something you are now opposing.
Your facts are not right and there are more people than you know in support of jobs, new businesses, etc. Where is CORD’s plan? If you are not a part of the solution, you are part of the problem. The last turn away cost the City $7 million dollars in tax revenue every year. Do you know what $7 million could do? Fix alleys, new recreation facilities (city pool) and other great things for the residents. CORD, what do you have to offer besides opposition? Have you mentioned what the City has already done? The answer is no. Phase I and II are completed downtown at the Madison and Jefferson Street piers, new traffic signals, rehabilitation of the sewer plant, new water and sewer lines, street repairs, new water tower at the high school to give the town protection in case of an emergency. You continue to focus on anything that deals with the waterfront.
