Those who like to sew are invited to gather Saturday, Sept. 21st, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Community Room of Ida Rupp Public Library, 310 Madison Street in Port Clinton, to sew pillowcases for kids hospitalized here in Northwest Ohio.

Darlene & Tony Novak Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Darlene and Tony Novak were surprised by a 50th wedding anniversary party put on by their three sons and daughters-in-law at the Novak house in Marblehead. After a dinner at Nagoya, the Novaks came home to find their house filled with family and friends. Forty to forty five people were in attendance to help celebrate the anniversary.

Little Free Library comes to Marblehead

The first Little Free Library user, Bailee Hoag. 

In a "petite" opening, the Marblehead peninsula celebrates it's first Little Free Library.  In a quiet little corner by a green swing with a peek of the lake sits a creation by Dave Follman.  For the love of his wife, Dave created this quiet place after his wife Sheila saw the website www.littlefreelibrary.org and fell in love with the concept of a series of little free libraries.

Household hazardous waste collection

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Collection. The collection will take place from 

9 a.m. to 12 noon. In order to bring materials to the collection you must be a resident of Ottawa, Sandusky or Seneca County. Collection times are as follows:

Ford Tri-Motor tour returns to Port Clinton

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be offering rides in a rare 1929 Ford Tri-Motor passenger airliner from Sept. 12-15, at the Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport, 3255 E. State Road in Port Clinton.

Tri-Motor rides last approximately 15 minutes and will be available Sept. 12th from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. and Sept. 13-15 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.. Tickets are $75 for adults and $50 for children 17 and under.

Fall is in the Air

Even though the first day of fall doesn’t officially start until Sept. 22, the weather we are experiencing this week makes it feel like it has already arrived. The reports of walleye in certain areas of the lake right now would confirm that it is indeed an early fall. I just hope that winter delays itself long enough for an extraordinary extended fall bite.

Rockets defeat St. Mary’s in volleyball

The Oak Harbor Rockets Varsity Volleyball Team defeated St. Mary’s Central Catholic in 4 games Tuesday night, 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22.  Leading the team to victory was Jordyn Thorp with 4 aces, 14 kills and 4 blocks.  Emma Bergman had 3 aces and 16 assists.  Athena Eli provided 21 digs and 25 serve receptions.  The JV lost in 2.  The Rockets play Perkins at home on Thursday.
