PC Chamber hosts Ohio Chamber Symposium

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Ohio Chamber Symposium on Thursday, April 25. Todd Sarver with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Attorneys at Law will be presenting “Social Media:  The Brave New Workplace”.

The legal impact of social media in the workplace will be reviewed including:

•hiring process

•monitoring employees

•employee (mis)conduct and termination  

•an interactive discussion about protected employee activities on-line

•review best practices and policy considerations for employer

The Ohio Chamber Symposium is free to PC Chamber members.  Lunch will be provided. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., and the workship will be from 12 -1 p.m. at The Civilian Marksmanship Program at Camp Perry Training Site, Building 3.

Thank you from Liberty Tax

I would like to thank the people in the community that donated to our Spring Food Drive Event. The event took place the week of Apr. 1 thru Saturday April 6th at our Port Clinton office. 

I would like to thank the following businesses for gift certificates : Big Boppers and Tofts Ice Cream for our Spring Food Drive drawing. The winners of the gift certificate will be contacted after the April 15 business day. Thank you Minuteman for your donation to the Spring Food Drive.  

Thank you to Bert Fall for having us on Talk at Ten online radio at www.portclintonradio.com for the special interview Liberty Tax and Truth Ministries Food Bank representative. Thank you Tom for providing lunch for our visitors and staff Saturday. 

It has been a pleasure working with all of you in the church, the office and the businesses who allowed us to post the information for a good cause.  

In these hard economic times we can all do our part to support our church food pantry and the other nonprofit organization.  We can all make a difference and help in our community.

Reach Out food give-away in Port Clinton

Rebirth Community Church will be giving away food to the community in their ReachOut program during the months of April, June, August, October and December. The first giveaway will be April 20, then will be the first Saturday of each month.

Marblehead Bank Daisy 5K Run/Walk

The Marblehead Bank’s 9th Annual 5K Daisy Run/Walk will be held Saturday, May 11. The out and back course passes the Lakeside Daisy Preserve. This year all proceeds from the race will be divided between The Newtown Community Fund and The Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. 

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. at the Marblehead V.F.W. Post 7572, 421 W. Main St., Marblehead.

ICS prepares for Kentucky Derby-Run for the Roses

 

Immaculate Conception School in Port Clinton is putting the final touches on their biggest fundraiser event of the year. The school’s spring auction will take place on April 20 with the theme “Kentucky Derby…Run for the Roses”.  

There will be a live auction with items such as trips, a jar full of money, a basket of lottery tickets, donations of gifts and services from various local businesses and much more. Dinner will be catered by the Nor Easter Club. A live auction, a silent auction, horse races to bet on, 50/50’s, a fishbowl auction, and grab bags will be held throughout the evening.  

Tickets are available at the school office at 109 W. 4th Street for $25 per person.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Ladies are invited to wear their Derby hats.
