Port Clinton nurse runs for the children

Sarah Williams of Port Clinton has embarked on a personal fitness journey. Both her parents had health scares in their mid fifties, so she realized she needs to take control of her future and steer toward healthier choices. 

Williams has recently become a Licensed Practical Nurse and as an advocate for public health, she feels she must examine the image she portrays to patients, family and the community, as a role model of healthy lifestyle choices.

Taylor and Polanco receive CNE designation

Sharon Polanco and Tony Taylor of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services in Port Clinton have been awarded the Certified Negotiationt Expert (CNE) designation by the Real Estate Negotiation Institute (RENI). The CNE is earned by real estate professionals after successfully completing formal negotiation training from the Real Estate Negotiation Institute. Agents who receive this certification are in the top 1% of all agents nationally.

Oak Harbor Volleyball team finishes 4th at MBK tournament

The Oak Harbor Varsity Volleyball team came away 4th out of 8 at the MBK invitational with a 1 and 2 record.  They defeated Sandusky in the first round which put them in the winner's bracket; they were then defeated by Clearview (who finished 2nd) and then Clyde who finished 3rd.  

Their next match is Tuesday at Edison.

Fall Job Fair Sept. 25 at Terra State

The Fall Job Fair at Terra State Community College is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Student Activities Center. 

“We have more than 50 employers who have committed to be here,” said Joan Gamble, Coordinator of Career Services. “It should be a very busy two hours for both employers and job seekers.” 

The event is free and open to the public. Job seekers are asked to dress to impress and bring copies of their resume.

Cars for Critters to attract flocks of critter lovers to ONWR

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Association is hosting the sixth annual benefit car show, Cars for Critters, on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

“Last year was our most successful event to date, bringing in a record 225 cars,” said Assistant Refuge Manager Eddy Pausch.  “The sixth annual Cars for Critters is expected to shatter records again. We are doubling the hayride tours on the refuge this year, which has been by far our most popular family attraction.”

Victorian Inn, Rosie’s and 1812 Food and Spirits hold benefits for CASA

The Victorian Inn Bed and Breakfast, at 5622 East Harbor Road, Marblehead, is putting on a Yard Sale to benefit CASA. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers help support abused and neglected children who greatly need a safe and trusting friend during these difficult processes. The volunteers are specially trained, which is not an easy or free process for CASA, therefore help is always needed in order to help the children. The volunteers become acquainted with everyone surrounding the child so they can be the voice of the child in the court room.
