An increasing deer population, resulting in extensive damage to plant communities and an increased risk of deer/vehicle accidents has led the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to coordinate a (youth) special archery deer hunt at East Harbor State Park. The random drawing will be held on Nov. 4 by the Lakeshore Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, to select nine hunters.
Interested applicants, 17 years old or younger, should submit a 3" x 5" post card with their printed name, complete address and daytime telephone number with the caption "Jake Hunt" to East Harbor State Park, 1169 North Buck Road, Marblehead, OH, 43440. Submit only one entry; all permits are non-transferable. Applications must be post marked by Nov. 1.
Selected hunters will be notified by phone on Nov. 5, and must attend a pre-hunt meeting at East Harbor State Park on the morning of the Nov. 16 hunt. East Harbor State Park is located on State Route 269, north of State Route 163 in Marblehead.
All Ohio hunting laws/regulations will apply to these hunts. Hunters must purchase the required hunting license and deer permits and have them in their possession on the day of the hunt.
