Family Fishing Day at East Harbor

East Harbor State Park held its 14th annual Family Fishing Day on Saturday, April 26. 500 trout from the Castalia Trout Farm were released into the pond next to the Lakewood Shelter in the park. The trout were all 12-14”.

“This is the nicest weather we’ve had in a couple years,” said Ted Johnson from the Ohio State Parks Service. “With this nice of weather, we could expect to see 100 people out here throughout the day.”

Family Fishing Day at East Harbor State Park

Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), East Harbor State Park will be stocked with 500 rainbow trout for Family Fishing Day Saturday, April 26.

Youth accompanied by an adult will be first in line to catch the trout beginning Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  No fishing will be permitted in the pond between the time the fish are stocked Friday until the fishing event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. The park will have some fishing equipment available for loan and live bait will be provided during the event.  Park volunteers will be available to assist the kids and parents with fishing.

East Harbor’s pond is located behind Lockwood Shelter parking lot, which is on the first road to the left after entering the park. The event will be held rain or shine.  All Ohio fishing regulations apply.
