Recently, Superintendent Guy Parmigian and Treasurer Tim Coffman met with Mr. Thomas Nixon of Bechtel Corporation.
Bechtel, a company with more than 54,000 employees world-wide is engaged in major construction, engineering and procurement projects throughout the world. Their projects over the years have included the building of the Hoover Dam. Engineering News-Record (ENR) has named Bechtel the top U.S. construction contractor for 14 straight years. Bechtel is also committed to improving and giving back to the communities in which they work. In the coming months, Bechtel will be doing work at the Davis-Besse Power Station, and Mr. Nixon will be heading up their project. Nixon stated that he is driven to improve the educational quality of communities where Bechtel works, which lead to Bechtel to make a $5,000.00 donation to Benton-Carroll-Salem Local School District.
Beyond the donation, Bechtel Corporation committed that they would work with B-C-S Schools on mentoring programs that encourage engineering and design skills, and to begin a Junior Achievement (JA) program for students in the district. Board of Education members expressed their gratitude to Mr. Nixon and Bechtel Corporation for their generous donation and commitment to excellence in education. Half of the funds donated will benefit B-C-S music programming, while the other half will benefit other worthy educational initiatives. Superintendent Guy Parmigian commented, “It is great to hear that a worldwide corporation like Bechtel is civic-minded and has an interest in improving the educational quality of our school district. On behalf of our students, I wish to thank Bechtel and assure them that their donation will go to good use. I look forward to working with Bechtel in the months ahead
