Last Friday the fourth graders at Immaculate Conception School had a very special visitor. Judge Kathleen Giesler stopped in to Mrs. Jacki Brown’s classroom to tell the students about Ottawa County’s upcoming Parents’ Week and the writing contest among area 4th grade students. Ottawa County’s Parents’ Week is Oct. 20 through Oct. 26 this year.
Judge Giesler is the judge of the Ottawa County Probate/Juvenile Court. She gave the students the task of writing an essay about their parents, grandparents, or any other person who loves and cares for them. The children can either write an essay about what makes a good parent or they can write a letter to their parents telling them why they are special.
One winner will be selected from each elementary school and honored at a Parents’ Week Kickoff Breakfast at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
