Allison Leah Hohman graduated May 31 from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts (AMDA) in New York City. She is a 2012 graduate of Danbury High School.
Commencement ceremonies for the 80 graduates, complete with a royal trumpets’ accompaniment, were held at the historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New York City.
Keynote address was by Broadway star Caissie Levy, 2004 AMDA graduate, and currently playing Fantine in “Les Miserables.”
Hohman joined AMDA graduates from around the world including students from Canada, Australia, the Philippines and South America.
Students are accepted by audition to AMDA, which offers a rigorous two-year curriculum of acting, musical theatre and dance. This year the college is celebrating its 50th year.
Hohman will be working this summer as a ticket concierge, handling distribution of Broadway show tickets to NYC theatres for TodayTix. She plans to continue her education at The New School for Public Engagement in New York where she will pursue a BFA degree in Musical Theatre. She also has several auditions scheduled for upcoming theatre and cabaret productions.
She is the daughter of Tim and Julie Hohman, of Danbury Township.
