Terra State nursing students donate to scholarship fund

Nursing students at Terra State Community College are required to complete community service and fundraising projects as part of their education in serving others.

Their efforts recently surprised one of their professors, Sue Kajfasz. At their pinning ceremony in December, the students took the opportunity to present Kajfasz with a check for $350 to go to the scholarship fund named for her late grandson, Aaron.

“I was so touched and delighted, and for them to take time away from their special moment to present that gift was so moving,” Kajfasz said. “I was totally taken by surprise.”

Small Business Basics seminar set for March

The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Terra State Community College is offering a free two-hour seminar, Small Business Basics, that will answer questions about starting, buying or expanding a small business.

This seminar will address running a business and offer help to avoid costly mistakes and unnecessary steps. The seminar will cover the basics of name registration, licensing, taxes, zoning, business entities, employees, insurance, financing and business planning.

The Ottawa County seminar will be held Wednesday, March 5, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Ottawa County Improvement Corporation conference room,8043 W. S.R. 163, Oak Harbor. It is free and open to the public.
