American Red Cross babysitter training at Oak Harbor Middle School

American Red Cross Babysitter Training will be offered to students residing in the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District on Saturday, March 15, 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Instructor for the training is Jan Overmyer, R.N. Registration forms are available in the school office, or by calling 419-898-6217. Registration deadline is Thursday, March13. 

This training is offered at no cost to students thanks to a generous grant from the Ottawa County Community Foundation.  Space is limited to the first 15 registrations. Participants should be 11-13 years old and are asked to pack a sack lunch.  

American Red Cross Babysitter Training helps students prepare for the unexpected and respond to emergencies in a calm and confident manner. This course teaches leadership skills, safe play, basic first aid, rescue breathing, and how to clear an obstructed airway. Safety precautions regarding severe weather events are also a part of the curriculum. 


American Red Cross recognizes volunteers

Local volunteers for the American Red Cross of Ottawa County were recognized for outstanding service Wednesday evening at the home of Deena Camerato. Entertainment was provided by pianist Greg Fox. In addition to the annual holiday gathering, the evening featured appreciation and acknowledgment of Red Cross volunteer leaders.
