Harry Stensen Memorial Fund to benefit Terra State students

The Harry Stensen Memorial Fund recently made a $10,000 donation to Terra State Community College for an endowed scholarship fund to assist Port Clinton High School graduates with their studies at the college.

“This is the first scholarship fund we have that specifically benefits Port Clinton students,” said Lisa Williams, Executive Director of the Terra College Foundation. “We are so appreciative to those who have been instrumental in this donation.”


Terra State offers Instant Enrollment Days, weekend hours

Fall semester at Terra State Community College begins August 20, and there is still time and opportunities to enroll.

There is still an all-in-one-day event scheduled for Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. These days are designed to make the enrollment process more convenient. Students will be able to complete COMPASS placement, CORE Orientation, meet with an academic advisor, and register, all in one day.

“Of course, you can stop in any weekday and we can help you get registered and enrolled,” said Cory Stine, Dean of Enrollment Services. “But on these Thursdays, the process is even easier.” To ensure your seat, RSVP at 419-559-2349.

Also, to assist those who work during the week, the College will be open on two consecutive Saturdays, Aug. 9 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The following areas will be ready to assist: Admissions/Advising, Records/Registration, Financial Aid, Cashier, Testing Center and HelpDesk/Library.

Terra State to host third annual Heroes Run

Terra State Community College in partnership with SCHRMA will host the Third Annual Heroes Run Aug. 16 on the campus. Proceeds from the 5K run/walk will go to the Haldon Dodway Veterans Scholarship Fund to assist veterans at Terra State.

Pre-registration fee is $10 for ages 10 and up and $5 for those under 10. Deadline to pre-register is July 28. Cash or make checks payable to the Terra College Foundation. Run day registration begins at 8 a.m. and the run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

There will be overall male and female winners as well as top three male and female finishers in each age category. Age categories range from 9 and under to 70 and over.Vendors will be on campus selling shirts, beverages and food. Goodie bags will be given to the first 200 registrants.
