Terra State prepares for evaluation

Terra State Community College is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit April 2-4 by a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Terra State has been accredited by the Commission since 1975.

The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation. The public is invited to submit comments regarding the College to:

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Comments must be in writing and be received by March 6.

Terra State board elects new officers

Nancy Grandillo accepts the gavel from outgoing chair Carl Koebel

The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees elected a new group of officers for 2014 at its regular meeting on Jan. 23.

Nancy Grandillo, of Tiffin, will serve as the board chair while Sandra Berlekamp will be the vice-chair and Don Nalley will serve as sergeant at arms. Both Berlekamp and Nalley are Fremont residents.

“I see the board continuing with the master plan, with the campus and entrance improvements and reversing the current enrollment challenges,” Grandillo said. “I am pleased to work with a forward-thinking board and an administration that puts students first.”

Grandillo takes over for Carl Koebel, of Port Clinton, who has been the board chair the past two years.

Terra State to offer exam prep for human resource professionals

Lifelong Learning at Terra State Community College is offering a preparation course for human resource professionals who are planning to take certification exams.

This course is designed by subject matter experts and includes discussion questions, application exercises and module exams to develop specific HR competencies. Course materials assist the participant in preparing for the Human Resource Certification Institute’s Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) exams.
