Champions, Extension partner for ‘Whale of a Good Time’

Port Clinton City School District’s Champions for Children has been a partner with the Ottawa County 4-H and OSU Extension Office for years. Students enrolled in the after-school program are members of 4-H and participate in projects, camp and much more. Kathy Booher, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development, submitted a grant to the Ohio 4-H Foundation to fund summer enrichment activities. The grant funds activities for Acorn Alley as well. This summer, Port Clinton Champions participants will be constructing a life-sized whale, all while having fun and learning at the same time.

Pay tribute to Carroll School Sunday

Pay tribute and celebrate 73 years of “Building Memories” at Carroll School from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19.
The open house will begin with a welcome at 2 p.m. and will include self-guided building tours.  Many old pictures, letters and memorabilia will be displayed, and there will also be an opportunity to share memories through video.

PCHS honors scholarship winners

The Port Clinton High School Rotary Honor Banquet was held on May 2 in the Performing Arts Center. The annual event is made possible by the generosity of several Port Clinton community groups, businesses and individuals while showcasing the academic achievements of Port Clinton High School Students. Outstanding students from the Class of 2012 were awarded college scholarships. Prior to the award presentations, Port Clinton Rotary Club hosted their annual dinner for all PCHS honor students, the scholarship winners, parents and presenters. Sign up now for Champions for Children summer program

Registrations are now being accepted to join Champions for Children’s Summer Enrichment Program, which provides childcare for students during the summer months.    Champions for Children is a self-supported, after-school enrichment program available through the Port Clinton City School District and is a licensed child-care provider for the Department of Job & Family Services. The program is open to families in the Port Clinton City School District for children entering grades kindergarten through sixth. This year, all the summer sessions will be held at Port Clinton High School.

School contents auction May 26

The contents of Bataan Memorial Elementary School will be auctioned off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Bataan Memorial, 525 W. Sixth St., Port Clinton. Some of the items for auction include: desks (student and teacher), various size tables, filing cabinets, computer desks, metal shelving, projectors, dry erase boards, bulletin boards, easels and folding chairs. See auction list at www.pccsd.net under “News.”
The auction begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. All items are sold “as is, where is” to the highest bidder. Statements made day of auction take precedence over all written material. Cash or check with proper ID required.
