On Saturday, Feb. 23, seventeen Port Clinton Middle School musicians took part in the Ohio Music Education Association’s Middle School District Honors Festival at Tiffin Middle School.
Judge Frederick (“Fritz”) C. Hany II of the Ottawa County Municipal Court recently had the opportunity to speak to the Port Clinton High School government classes.
Hany was welcomed by Mr. Greg Scalf, Port Clinton High School educator, who relayed to the students that “Judge Hany is a long serving and respected Judge who is known as a ‘fair’ judge, treating everyone who comes in to the courtroom with respect.”
The Danbury High School National Honor Society held its Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Gailord Braithwaite Auditorium. Congratulations to the new members, sophomores James Dorko, Caleb Gerber, Joseph Mintz, and Taylon Molnar; juniors Allison Ahrens and Alyssa Biro; and senior Morgan Snyder.
Christopher Lee McClanahan, age 15, of Oak Harbor, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. He earned the award on Oct. 3, 2012, and will be recognized in a ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at the Eagle’s Nest hall at 210 Jefferson Street in Oak Harbor.
To earn the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. Only about 5% of Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank. Christopher earned 21 merit badges and successfully completed a community service project to earn his Eagle Scout Award.
