A response to this Sound Off.
Although it's against my better judgement to respond to this in a public forum I would like to take this opportunity to present my point of view.
Most certainly my intentions are never, ever to hurt anyone's feelings. My intentions are to expose the hypocrisy of homophobia, racism, misogyny and other human ailments through humor and song. To point out, make fun of, and celebrate our differences. To laugh at each other and ourselves and to show that we can all have fun together. Most people get it...sadly, there are some who don't.
Nevertheless I have been doing this successfully for 35 years and will continue to do it as long as God and the right to free speech lets me.
My show is not anti-anything except hatred. It is pro-gay rights and I do a routine that supports gay marriage. I am actually quite surprised and dismayed at this person's reaction. It's just a show, it's not reality. If you don't like it...leave, please. It's not for everybody. There are plenty of people who do enjoy it as exemplified by the vast amounts of positive e-mail and Facebook postings I receive.
I would like to point out that, to the best of my knowledge, at no time did the individual who was offended ever attempt to contact me after the show or by any other means to express his feelings with me on this matter.
As always, I wish peace, love and humor to all.
