We would like to take this opportunity to thank so many of you for the success of Wreaths Across America. On Dec. 14th, Catawba Island Township Cemetery took part in a very special tradition of placing Christmas wreaths on the gravesites of veterans. The support, help and donations that were provided to us by this wonderful community were amazing. We truly are at a loss for words. The weather was cold, windy and snowy, but the ceremony was absolutely perfect.
A big thank you to the Catawba Trustees, with special thanks to Dan Barlow, Bob Rogers, Ernie Wylie and the whole Catawba maintenance team that plowed, set up, directed traffic, etc. Also, thank you to the Catawba Island Fire Department and the Ladies’ Auxiliary for hosting the social afterwards and to Jim Stouffer and the Catawba Island Club for transporting people. Thank you to Senator Randy Gardner, Father John Missler, Frankie Bickel and Marines Forever for adding so much to the ceremony. Also thank you to the brave and enthusiastic Boy and Girl Scouts and their leaders and to Gerner & Wolf Funeral Home for donating the tent for shelter. Thank you to all of you who braved the cold to be there and who helped lay wreaths. It was such a special tribute.
Lastly, and most importantly, a very special thank you to all those who the wreaths were laid for. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your service. Happy New Year!
Sincerely, Diane Belden and Reggie Langford
