I have been unable to comprehend how our leaders and population can accept the fact that our country can spend more money than what it is GIVEN to operate.  I repeat, what is given TO OPERATE ITS ACTIVITIES.  Our country does not earn income as it relies only what we are asked or maybe demanded to give. What a wonderful system that is presently out of control.

Dear Ottawa County Community,

On behalf of Home Instead Senior Care, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the 2012 Be a Santa to a Senior program.  Through your generous support we were able to deliver 350 gifts to seniors in Ottawa County.  Thank you to Wal-Mart, the Rite-Aid stores in Genoa, Oak Harbor and Port Clinton and Lori Jo’s in Elmore for allowing us to put up the trees with the gift requests.

Dear Ottawa County,

Each year for the past several years, Home Instead Senior Care has sponsored the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program that helps to provide Christmas gifts to those seniors who would otherwise have nothing. Since it inception, Home Instead has worked with Ottawa County Senior Resources’ Home Delivered Meal program to identify those seniors in need of some special Christmas cheer!

Danbury residents,

The holiday season brings out the best in people. Again this year Danbury Township, Lakeside and Marblehead residents and area businesses enthusiastically helped the Danbury Holiday Bureau, and provided 131 families, for a total of 419 people, with food and other necessities to brighten their lives during the Christmas season.

Ruth Ann's House

Dear Readers-

Ruth Ann’s House has been in need of a sidewalk leading to our handicap ramp for a little while. This past week some very friendly elves from Tom Evan’s Masonry Construction solved that problem. The staff and residents of Ruth Ann’s would like to thank Tom and his staff for constructing a beautiful and much needed walkway. No more stones and mud, we really appreciate your kindness and dedication to the community.
