Having just read the review of the Waterworks Park/downtown Port Clinton proposal, all I can say is "let's get started". Having been coming to the area for 60 years and being a property owner for 30 years, I have watched the decline of a thriving community and so many local residents fight attempts to reinvent the area and bring new jobs and businesses here. All I can imagine is that those fighting this all have secure employment and don't mind that most young people have to leave their hometown to find employment. This proposal seems to be a good response to many of the fears of local residents. Local residents will have full access and improved facilities like an amphitheater, boardwalk and viewing platforms, the city can LEASE Washington Properties the land, and the plan takes into account year round usage. Sounds like a home run to me!
