Danbury boys fall to 0-3; girls get first win of season

The Danbury boys team fell to 0-3 overall on the season, losing to Emmanuel Christian (54-32) on Friday and St. Mary CC (66-43) on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lakers are currently 0-1 in the TAAC.
In the loss to the EC, Caleb Helline led all scorers with 17 points, nine of which came on three-pointers.

Danbury trailed by just one point, 12-11, after the first quarter, but the Eagles dominated from that point forward, outscoring the Lakers 42-21 the rest of the way.
Tyrece Edwards led EC with 15 points and Bobby Behan and Carlton Brown had 14 and 11 points, respectively.
In Saturday’s loss to SMCC, the Lakers fell behind early, trailing 15-5 after one period and 31-17 at the half.

For SMCC, Alex Opfer led all scorers with 27 points and Ethan Sennish and Joe Youskievicz had 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Throughout the game, Opfer was able to penetrate and create problems for the Laker defense, getting his team a number of high-percentage shots.
Caleb Helline led the team with 18 points and five rebounds. Zak Miller had seven points and Dylan Buckley had six to pace Danbury.
Helline has been a force to be reckoned with this season, as he has averaged 18.7 ppg in the team’s first three games.

Lady Lakers
After starting the season with two losses, the Danbury girls basketball team notched its first win of the season with a 60-8 drubbing on league foe Emmanuel Christian.
With the win, the Lakers, who controlled the game throughout, improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) on the season.
