After defeating Cardinal Stritch 26-18 two weeks ago, the Danbury Lakers have fallen on tough times, losing their last two games by a combined 79 points to fall to 2-4 and 1-2 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference.
Last week the Lakers fell to Toledo Christian 39-7. The Eagles, who defeated the Lakers 35-16 last season, improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the TAAC while the Lakers fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in the league.
TC was led by quarterback Josh Winzeler and running back Tevin Williams, who, throughout the evening, were able to pick apart the Danbury defense. On top of that, the Eagles defense was able hold the Lakers' attack in check, allowing only one touchdown.
This week the Lakers travel to Northwood to face the Rangers, who are off to a 6-0 start. Northwood, the reigning TAAC champions, has been absolutely dominant this season, scoring at least 35 points in every game and winning each contest by at least 28 points.
The Rangers feature a wishbone offense that utilizes the option and has been incredibly successful this season. Northwood, which is currently ranked third in the Division V, Region 18 Standings, defeated Hilltop 54-7 last week behind 441 yards of total offense and three touchdowns from quarterback Nick Russell.
