Danbury girls lose third straight

    Cardinal Stritch 50, Danbury 34

    Holding a 26-22 lead at halftime, Cardinal Stritch outscored Danbury, 14-8, in the third quarter to defeat Danbury, 50-34.

    Led by Abby Mass, who finished with a game-high 26 points, the Cardinals built a 13-9 lead after one quarter and held a four-point lead at the half. Up 40-30 after three quarter, Stritch put the game away with a 10-4 advantage in the final period. Erin Lavelle led the Lakers with 10 points and Katie Almendinger helped pace Danbury with nine points.   

    Toledo Christian 63, Danbury 42

    The Eagles jumped out to a 19-4 led and never looked back on their way to a 63-42 win over Danbury. Toledo Christian held a 26-15 lead at halftime and put the game out of reach by outscoring the Lakers, 16-11, in the third quarter. Darian Westmeyer led the Eagles. With the win, Toledo Christian improves to 17-3 and 12-0 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference while Danbury falls to 9-11 and 8-4 in the TAAC. The win clinched the league title for the Eagles. The Lakers, meanwhile, are currently tied with Stritch for second place in the league.

Erin Lavelle led Danbury with 13 points, Megan Stephens had 10 and Tori Wright scored nine.

After losing three games in a row, the Lakers look to right the ship when they host Emmanuel Christian (5-9, 3-8 TAAC) on Thursday.
