Holding a 36-35 lead midway thru the fourth quarter, Margaretta proceeded to go on a 14-0 run to put the game away in their 50-37 defeat of Oak Harbor.
Led by center Austin Moore, who finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds, the Polar Bears were able to outlast the Rockets.
With the win, Margaretta’s third in a row, the Polar Bears improved to 7-13 and 3-10 in the Sandusky Bay Conference while Oak Harbor fell to 10-10 and 6-6 in the league.
This Friday, Oak Harbor hosts St. Mary CC (13-8, 6-7 SBC) and Clyde (12-8, 7-5 SBC) on Saturday. The Rockets enter the playoffs when they face the Fliers at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Clay High School in the Div. II Sectional Semifinals. Should Oak Harbor win, they’ll fact the winner of the Scott-Woodward game at 8 p.m. on Mar. 1 at Clay HS.
