Two of the area’s best high school bowlers teamed up to finish 3rd in the Junior Tournament Bowlers Association Doubles event at Rebman’s Recreation in Lorain Sunday.
Port Clinton’s Sean Black led the team with games of 237-236-233-233-265-205 for a 1409 total, 2nd best individual score. Perkin's Maxx Tamburrino added 160-237-268-187-244-269 for 1365 as the duo qualified 2nd out of 60 teams.
They won their first Baker match vs. Jones & Montgomery from Ravenna, Oh 248-205 and 208-160.
In the round of 8 they defeated Hoskins/Kominek from Toledo 222-179 and 235-151 to advance to the round of 4.
The team of Atkinson/Canterbury from Charleston, WV, rolled Baker games of 248-288 to Black/Tamburrino’s 183-220 to advance to the finals.
Black/Tamburrino finished 3rd with the team winning $300 in scholarships. They were 2nd in this event last year. Black earned another $64 in scholarships from brackets.
Sean Black stated, “It was a very successful day for both Maxx and I. We were both relaxed & had fun bowling together. We tried to win the tournament but are satisfied with a very good finish and scholarship monies.”
