Perkins defeats Oak Harbor, 48-28

Perkins departed Friday night's game at Oak Harbor with a 48-28 victory over the Rockets, but it was a well-earned, hard-fought win that the Pirates are happy to have after being tested.

Oak Harbor (4-5, 3-3 SBC) scored on its first two possessions to take a 7-0 and 14-7 leads, respectively, in the first quarter before the Pirates rallied to take the lead for good at 21-14 on a 64-yard scamper by running back Dale Irby with 9:28 remaining in the first half. Perkins (9-0, 6-0) pushed the lead to 41-14 after scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter, though the Rockets did fight back to make it interesting.

Rockets run for nearly 500 yards in win over SMCC

In a back-and-forth game that featured three first-half ties, Oak Harbor took the lead for good late in the second quarter before slowly building a lead to defeat St. Mary Central Catholic, 42-21.

The win, which came after two consecutive losses, moves the Rockets to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the Sandusky Bay Conference. The Panthers, meanwhile, drop to 2-6 and 1-4 in the league.

Clyde defeats Oak Harbor, 42-0

Following a tough loss to Perkins last week, Clyde knew it would have to put that setback behind itself and refocus if it were to rebound this week against Oak Harbor.

The Fliers answered the call, scoring three touchdowns in the game’s first three minutes on its way to a 42-0 defeat of Oak Harbor in Sandusky Bay Conference action Friday.
