Oak Harbor girls defeat Danbury, 53-27

The Oak Harbor girls jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 31-13 at halftime before defeating Danbury, 53-27, in non-conference action last week.

Abbie Gezo led all scorers with 18 points and Maria Boers finished with 17.

The Lakers were led by Erin Lavelle, who scored eight points and Stephanie Kukay, who finished with seven.

OH boys win two straight, improve to 6-5

 

After falling to Tiffin Columbian to drop to 4-5, the Oak Harbor boys basketball team rebounded to win two straight games to get over the 500 mark.

On Saturday the boys, behind 21 points from Greg Haar, defeated Eastwood, 71-67, in an overtime thriller.

Down 48-42 heading into the fourth quarter, the Rockets outscored the Eagles, 19-13, to send the game into the extra session. In overtime Oak Harbor was able to hold Eastwood off, outscoring them, 10-6, to get the win.

Port Clinton girls defeat Oak Harbor, 53-39

In their second matchup of the season, Port Clinton defeated Oak Harbor, 53-39.

The Redskins jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Rockets 12-6 in the first quarter and 9-6 in the second for a 21-12 lead at the half.

In the second half Oak Harbor was able to make a few runs, but was never able to seriously threaten as Port Clinton slowly pulled away, outscoring the Rockets 32-27 in the final two quarters.

Danbury girls improve to 4-0 in the TAAC

After falling to Seneca East in their previous game, the Danbury Lakers bounced back to defeat league foe Maumee Valley Country Day, 43-25.

The Lakers offense featured another balanced attack as Erin Lavelle, Alyssa Almendinger and Stephanie Kukay each scored eight points to lead Danbury.
