Keith Witt won a Division II state wrestling title at 171 pounds for Oak Harbor in 2008.

When he arrived on the Kent State campus a few months later to wrestle for the Golden Flashes, high school suddenly felt like a distant memory. His weight ballooned to 220 pounds his freshman year and he ended up redshirting that season.

“I was really out of shape,” said Witt, now a fifth-year senior. “I was training with the team all year round. I wasn’t in my top form. It was my first year of college and my body wasn’t in the best form it could be. It wasn’t like I gained any good weight. I was dumpy and not in the best shape.”

Over the weekend, the Oak Harbor wrestling team finished third at the Sandusky Bay Conference Dual Meet at Margaretta High School.

Led by seniors Luke Cramer and Alec Bowlick, the Rockets finished third out of eight teams, losing to Perkins and Clyde, the first- and second-place teams.

Danbury's Lilly Kennedy attempts this long jump shot in a game against Old Fort on Jan. 22.  The Lady Lakers were victorious, 59-29.

With their 46-26 win over Lake, the Port Clinton girls improved to 13-2 on the season, marking one of the greatest starts in the program's history.

After trailing, 19-16, at halftime, the Redskins took control by outscoring the Flyers, 17-5, in the third quarter before blowing the game open with a 13-2 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Emily Ashley led all scorers with 16 points and Hannah Weaver contributed 12.

Jordyn Taylor had 14 points to lead Lake.

Port Clinton's Redskin Bowlers traveled to Tri County Bowl in Woodville Friday and were swept by the Eagles, knocking the Redskin Boys out of first place in the Northern Ohio Bowling Conference.
   The Redskins moved ahead during the first two team games by rolling games of 990-997 to the Eagles 982-982 to grab a 23 pin lead going into Baker.
