St. John Lutheran Women of the ELCA in Marblehead is having their annual ham loaf sale. It is $7 for a package of four individual loaves. To order call Linda Merckens at 419-732-9977. When ordering leave your name, phone number and the number of packages desired. The pick up for the ham loaves will be at the church on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9-11 a.m.

Marblehead Zombies

Marblehead Zombies, a haunted house style event, will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 p.m-midnight,  at US Coast Guard Station Marblehead, 606 Prairie Street. The cost of admission for "Marblehead Zombies" is two canned good items that will be donated to the local food bank.

ICS says “Let’s stomp out bullying”

Immaculate Conception School Participated in Blue Shirt Day with World Day of Bullying Prevention on Monday, Oct. 7. The students were asked to wear a blue shirt to show their solidarity in stopping bullying and cyber bullying in our school, in our community, and in our world.  Immaculate Conception School has conducted several programs in the past year to reaffirm a zero tolerance within the school for bullying of any sort.

Downtown Port Clinton Trick or Treat Oct. 26

All young ghouls and goblins are invited to come downtown to trick or treat on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1-3 p.m.  There will be pumpkins in participating business’ windows and orange and black balloons. Frank and Elma Cuevas celebrate 45 years of marriage

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Cuevas children and grandchildren recognized their beloved parents and grandparents, Frank and Elma Cuevas with a celebration in honor of their 45th wedding anniversary. After a blessing of renewal vows, a dinner and dance were celebrated with 100 close friends and family at The Vineyard on Catawba Community Center.

Redskins volleyball 10.12

The Lady Redskins volleyball team was in action Saturday in a quad meet at Northwood. They finished the day winning 1 and losing 2. The Lady Redskins defeated Toledo Waite 25-10 and 25-7. The Lady Redskins fell to Northwood 25-27 and 22-25. They also fell to Lakota 12-25 and 17-25.

Graytown Building alive with children again

Pictured above (from left to right) at the front of the former Graytown Elementary School, and now North Point’s new regional operations hub is B-C-S Superintendent Guy Parmigian, B-C-S Board Member Kim Dusseau, North Point Governing Board Member Carole Kuns, and North Point Superintendent Douglas Crooks.

The sale of the former Graytown Elementary School building (located at 1661 N. Walker Street) was officially completed on Monday evening, October 7th.  The building was sold to the North Point Educational Service Center after their Governing Board took action on Monday evening to approve a purchase agreement already approved by the Benton-Carroll-Salem Board of Education.

The Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce and the Business and Professional Women sponsored Candidates Night at the Elk’s Lodge on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. Candidates had an opportunity to talk for five minutes, telling the voters their stories, why they wanted to run and what they would do for their communities if elected.

Otterbein Auxiliary Annual Dinner

The Bowling Green Graduate Student Brass Quintet will be entertaining guests at Otterbein North Shore auxiliary’s annual dinner on Friday, November 1. The event begins at 6:00 pm and is open to the public. The $12 cost of the dinner will be prepared by the Otterbein dietary staff, who just received the 2013 Award of Merit for Full Menu Food Service Operations from the Ottawa County Health Department.  This is an outstanding accomplishment, because they were chosen out of all full menu restaurants and kitchen operations in Ottawa County to receive this distinguished award.  Reservations can be made by calling 269-358-0111 or 419-798-8203.
