These three exceptional men have 187 combined years of volunteer service to the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department and are fine examples of commitment, selflessness, courage, and responsibility.  Any child or adult today would be fascinated by their stories and knowledge.


PointFest Christian music festival at Cedar Point

Building 429

The biggest stars in Christian music will rock the stage on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Cedar Point® as the park hosts its fifth annual PointFest music festival. This fun-filled day of song and praise features Building 429, whose recent album “We Won’t Be Shaken” debuted at the top of the Billboard Christian albums chart; Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award-winning Tenth Avenue North; Dove Award and Grammy Award-winning group Third Day; and Dove Award, American Music Award, Billboard Music Award and six-time Grammy Award-winning TobyMac.

And, when it happens in our families, we struggle, sometimes more than we would need to if we had taken the time to prepare. By settling the matters of our world and making decisions ahead of time, we can create an opportunity to enter the end of our lives with greater awareness and freedom.


Port Clinton loses to Clyde in volleyball

The Lady Redskins volleyball team was in action Thursday night against Clyde. In the Varsity game, the Lady Redskins made a comeback in game three, but it was not enough to lift them over the Fliers, as they lost in three, 25-9, 25-10, 25-17. Senior Ericka Castillo was a force in the back row for the redskins with 19 digs while being perfect on serves received. Sophomore Marissa Day was also perfect on serves received while chipping in 15 digs. Junior Taylor Zink had 7 digs for the Lady Redskins.


Appliance and scrap metal collection

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the OSS Solid Waste District will be sponsoring the Appliance Collection in Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca Counties. District residents can bring their old appliances and scrap metal for recycling from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Materials from businesses will NOT be accepted.  The event will take place in Ottawa County at the Ottawa Co. Fairgrounds, W. St. Rt. 163, Oak Harbor.


Oak Harbor cheerleading mini-clinic

The Oak Harbor High School Cheerleading Squads are hosting a Mini Cheer Clinic for grades K-4 on Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m.-12 noon at the Oak Harbor High School gymnasium. Registration ends Sept. 20.


PPPP festival

What a fantastic Labor Day weekend it was in Port Clinton!  It was wonderful to see both locals and tourists enjoying themselves on the streets of our city!


Thunder on the Rock on Friday

The Danbury Laker Athletic Boosters would like to extend an invitation to everyone for their 'Thunder on the Rock' event to be held Friday, Sept. 13th at Cleats from 4:30-6:30 p.m.(prior to the Danbury vs St. Mary's game). Food and drink will be available to all for just $5. A special invitation is extended to area bikers to attend and show off their bikes.


Pridefest helps Wounded Warriors

Gary Rezabek, SFC US Army Retired, National Director 82nd Airborne Association and Secretary/Treasurer of the Joint Veterans commission of Cuyahoga County and Wounded Warrior Representative (pictured on the left) presents an award to Cindy Janos and Bill Mattern for organizing and hosting Pridefest. The fundraiser, held on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Marblehead Estates and Yacht Club, raised $5,000 for the Wounded Warriors Project.
