Oak Harbor loses to Clyde in volleyball

The Rockets volleyball team was beaten by Clyde in 3 games Thursday evening, 11-25, 13-25, and 11-25.  Every team member contributed, but the highlights of the match were Jordyn Thorp with 6 kills, Ally Bloomer and Annie Quisno each providing 4 kills.  Annie Quisno had 9 assists, and Emma Bergman added 8 assists.  Athena Eli had 21 of 22 good serve receptions attempts and added 16 digs.  

The Varsity will be playing Danbury and Lake this Saturday home.  The JV lost to Clyde in 2 and will be playing Danbury and Lake at Lake on Saturday.

Ottawa County Historical Museum resumes winter hours

The Ottawa County Historical Museum resumes winter hours Wednesday, Sept. 4, and will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment with the curator, Peggy Debien, 419-732-1039 or 419-732-2237.

Black wins first championship

This past weekend PCHS graduate and Davenport University bowler Sean Black traveled to Dayton to bowl two tournaments over the Labor Day weekend. The first tournament he bowled on Saturday was the "Eliminator" Tournament which was composed of a field of 72 boys. The format for this tournament is cutting to the top half of the field after 5 games. Then erase pins after each round cutting to the top 16, 8, 4, 2, until the champion is crowned.  Black rolled games of 137-279-218-187-210 in qualifying for a 1031 total putting him in 8th and advancing.  Black was never eliminated, rolling games of 237-198-245-223 and 222, in the championship match to defeat Urbana Freshman Kyle Cook, who rolled 212.

Art Gallery at Magruder Hospital to feature local artists

The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council has partnered with Magruder Hospital to create an art gallery within the hospital which will display the creative pieces of various local artists. The "Healing Arts Gallery" was created with the intent of sharing the talents of local artists while giving patients, visitors and employees at Magruder a visual experience.

Port Clinton defeats Perkins in boys soccer

Wednesday night Port Clinton hosted Perkins Boys in soccer. The final score was Port Clinton 3 and Perkins 0. The scoring was started by an assist from Josh Brown to Simon Shulz. The second score was by Nathan Stubblefield and the third came off of an assist by Nathan Stubblefield to Ben Heminger.

Port Clinton had 13 shots on goal and Perkins had 2. Port Clinton’s goalie had 2 saves and Perkins’ goalie  had 10.  Port Clinton is  4-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.

Lady Redskins defeats Napoleon in tennis

The Lady Redskins tennis team defeated Napoleon 5-0 in the 2nd round of the OTCA Coaches Tournament.  This brings their record to 8-2 (3-1 in SBC). Port Clinton will face Lexington in the next round of the tournament, the date to be determined.
