First week high school football scores

Friday night was the kickoff to the high school football season in Northwest Ohio. All the area teams opened away from home, some far away. Danbury and Oak Harbor began the season with decisive victories, and Port Clinton lost to neighboring Woodmore.


Magruder Hospital named Gold Partner for organ, eye and tissue donation advocacy

Magruder Hospital was recognized by Donate Life Ohio, the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ohio Department of Health’s Second Chance Trust Fund for taking action to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registration. Magruder Hospital and 56 other Ohio hospitals were recognized during the 2013 OHA Annual Meeting in Columbus.


Grand opening for Fowl Foolers

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Fowl Foolers located at 2435 E. Gill Road in Port Clinton on August 22.  Representatives from the Chamber’s Board congratulated Scot Smith and Charley Heiges on their grand opening and wished them many years of success.

Waterfowl hunting season dates

The 2013-14 waterfowl hunting season dates were approved by the Ohio Wildlife Council at its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Changes for the upcoming waterfowl seasons include a decrease in the scaup bag limit to three, an increase in the canvasback bag limit to two and the youth waterfowl season will now be Oct. 5-6 statewide. New for 2014 at Cedar Point

Cedar Point® amusement park/resort, known around the world for its record-breaking collection of rides and roller coasters, announced several plans for the 2014 season, including introducing two new family rides, changes to the park’s Camp Snoopy area and more details on a two-year renovation project to Hotel Breakers.
