Oak Harbor FFA creates song parody “Ag. Shop”

The Oak Harbor FFA Chapter was presented an opportunity by the Ohio Country Journal and Ohio Ag. Net to enter a contest to create a music video/parody to promote agriculture and the FFA organization. The Communications and Leadership class decided to take on this task. After a lot of brainstorming, they ended up picking the song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore. Then they started brainstorming lyrics for this song about agriculture and the FFA. Over a few weeks members spent countless hours filming video footage for the song. Once the filming was over, students uploaded the video and began editing and putting the video to the music. Once the video was finished it was uploaded to youtube. The video finished 3rd in the Ohio Country Journal Contest.

Danbury Baseball 2013 preview

In 2012, the Danbury Lakers baseball team had a 12- 12 record, 5-7 in the TAAC.

The Lakers lost six seniors to graduation, John Bunce, Branden Burke, Dalton Chapman, Caleb Helline, Lucas Kennedy and Cory Schenk. This group left their mark on the program, being the class with the greatest numbers of wins (49) over their high school careers.

The top returning lettermen for the Lakers are senior pitcher Zach Kalinoski, a 3-year letterman, and pitcher/shortstop sophomore letterman Chase Botson. Promising underclassmen are sophomores Mike Stys, catcher/pitcher; Alec Calton, 1st/pitcher; Jack Tyson, 2nd/pitcher; and freshman Austin Buchanan, shortstop/pitcher.

The Lakers 2013 squad is young but energetic. “The 2013 team’s strengths include coach-ability & team camaraderie,” according to coach Adam Steinbrick. “The Lakers need to learn in a hurry and most of all show continuous improvement throughout the year.”

The projected starting line-up could include as many as six sophomores and a freshman. Ottawa Hills and Northwood will be favorites in conference play once again.

In addition to head coach Adam Steinbrick, the Lakers coaching staff includes Bryan Dudash, Jeff Corbin and Mike Limberios.
