Open Letter from Sheriff Levorchick to Ottawa County Citizens

Well, we are once again thrown full force into the summer months and the great migration of visitors to our awesome county. We are truly blessed to live in such a great county, which is one of the prime vacation and weekend destinations within the State of Ohio.

As we enjoy the warm sunshine and the many benefits that we enjoy during the summer months within Ottawa County, please be aware of the increased amount of traffic that always comes this time of year. With the increased traffic from our visitors, come some who are not familiar with our roads nor with the exact location of their destination. Therefore, I ask that we all take stock in our own driving habits and slow down a little in order to ensure that we all arrive safely to whatever location we are traveling.

Good News for Western Basin Walleye Anglers

It sure has been nice being able to wear shorts out in the boat these past couple of weeks. I thought the warm weather would never arrive, but I’m sure glad it finally did!

Water temperatures are now in the high 60’s and low 70’s and there are still plenty of walleye in the area. Reports of big fish being caught to the east, (Lorain and further east), have begun, so those fish have already left the west end and are on the move to their summer hunting grounds. However, there is still some pretty phenomenal walleye fishing to be had from Toledo to Vermilion.

Gardner honors Port Clinton K of C for 100 years of service

Thursday, June 5, Senator Randy Gardner came to honor the member of the Port Clinton Knights of Columbus for contributing 100 years of service to the community. “100 years is impressive,” said Gardner, “but what’s most commendable are the contributions you’ve made to the children and families of the community.”
