County is going bankrupt

The USA is going bankrupt. There are no easy solutions or quick fixes to the dilemma confronting this nation. With a national debt now over the 12.5 trillion dollar mark, anyone with common sense can see where we are headed. It is perturbing to observe the media and the political establishment always referring to the deficit, which simply represents the disparity between current expenditures and income, which studiously avoiding any mention of the national debt which now stands at over $40,000 owed in unpaid taxes by every many, woman, and child in the United States. The grim, simple fact of life is that to cover the deficit, the government must borrow month, which then adds to the national debt. Americans want their benefits but are unwilling to pay for them. It is time for the people of these United States to face realities and undertake the following steps to avoid an impending financial catastrophe:
Pass a balanced budge amendment to the Constitution, requiring the Federal government to balance each fiscal year between income and expenses. Almost every state in the Union has a balanced budget requirement, and most fiscally responsible citizens (a growing minority) handle their personal budgets accordingly.
Accept the reality that the United States’ rein as a military superpower is coming to an end. We simply cannot afford it. Judging from history, most great nations have experienced their demise not from external threats, but from economic and social decay within. The United States will inevitably collapse within the next half century if its economic house including its staggering debt is not put in order. Naturally, the military-industrial complex President Eisenhower warned about nearly fifty years ago will fight tooth and nail to prevent any reduction in defense spending.
Congressional appropriations for “earmarks” or special local projects should be banned, or at the very least suspended until the national debt crisis is resolved.
A national sales or value added tax should be implemented, the proceeds of which should be strictly and solely applied to paying off the national debt.
Needless to say, neither major political party will have the moral courage of the political will to follow any of the preceding suggestions. In all probability we will stumble on until overseas investors holding U.S. Treasury notes (at least 40 percent of the outstanding debt) lose their confidence in the ability of the United Sates to honor its debt, thereby precipitating a financial crisis leading to the eventual decline of the United States. The same fate befell Great Britain after World War II, when the United Sates demanded immediate payment of its wartime lend-lease credits, and there is no valid reason to believe we will avoid a similar one in the near future!

Has Congress heard about recession?
I don’t believe that congress knows that we are in a recession. You received a raise last year and this year. You received an increase in your administrative costs, and you have not had to off any of your staff. This shows me that congress has again exempted themselves from the rest of America. You control your own lucrative retirement program (which I feel is again out of touch with America), your own lucrative health care program (you should have to be under the new obamacare program that the congress passed), and your own rejection of term limits. We elect congressional representatives to represent us in the US Congress. Instead we wind up working for you and having you dictate to us without really letting us vote on the items from which you have exempted yourself. Don’t you feel that  you should be with us in the mainstream of America, under social security, 401K programs, and be made to abide by all the same regulations that you put on us??
Is it any wonder that the congressional approval rating is around 18%? That means that 82% of Americans disapprove of what congress is doing. Have the members of Congress placed themselves on a pedestal?
