Judge Hany seeks appellate court seat

Judge Fredeick C. (Fritz) Hany II took out petitions today for a seat on the Sixth District Court of Appeals. Hany has served Ottawa County as Municipal Court Judge since 1991, having been elected four times. The Sixth District Court of Appeals serves the citizens of eight northwest Ohio counties; they are Lucas, Wood, Erie, Sandusky, Ottawa, Fulton, Williams and Huron. Mostly, the appellate court hears and reviews decisions that are first made in Ohio’s Municipal and Common Pleas Courts.
In addition to his daily court responsibilities, Hany has been appointed to several state-wide boards and committees which have recommended ways to modernize and improve law enforcement and court administration throughout Ohio. Most recently, the Ohio Supreme Court has appointed him to the Ohio Rules Committee, and he has been a faculty member of the Ohio Judicial College since 1999.
Hany and his wife Susan, an Oak Harbor High School teacher, reside in Oak Harbor, and have two daughters, Joan and Elizabeth.
